The mission of the Galveston County Recovery Fund, formed in the weeks following Hurricane Ike in 2008, is simple: to bring the resources of private philanthropy to bear on disaster response and recovery for the people of Galveston County, Texas.
The Recovery Fund was formed through a collaborative effort involving the Harris & Eliza Kempner Fund, The Moody Foundation, Mary Moody Northen Endowment, the Permanent Endowment Fund of Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church, the City of Galveston, Galveston County, United Way Galveston County Mainland, and United Way of Galveston.
That collaborative structure remains central to how the Recovery Fund works today, bringing private philanthropy, local government, and community partners together to respond to disaster-related needs across Galveston County.
